Nanette and John Carney of Blue Bell have learned what to tell older workers about avoiding employment barriers.

In 1992, Nanette and John Carney started an employment firm designed to help people age 50 and older find jobs.

“Some banks laughed when we told them what we wanted to do,” said John Carney.

Eventually they got the financing to found The Carney Group, and set up an office in Blue Bell. They went out in search of “mature workers” who had been downsized out of jobs while in their 50s or either wanted or needed to go back to work after they had retired.
